Many of those who land at Orio al Serio Airport wonder what is the conurbation with towers, bell towers and mighty walls that stands out on the horizon. The answer may be obvious, but it isn’t: Bergamo. People fascinated by the view have grown together with the number of passengers of the nearby airport. Renting a car can make your travel more flexible. There are many major car hire companies that operate at the airport and they all offer competitive pricing.

Taxis are accessible right outside the arrivals area. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the Bergamo Centre and the fare is between 15 and 20 euros. If you want to reach Milan by taxi, which is about 40 kilometres far, the cost will be about 60 euros.

There is a public bus service leading to Bergamo airport that departs every half hour. The service is operated by ATB, the local transport company. The bus takes approximately 10 minutes to reach the train station and the bus one, before continuing towards the historical centre. From here the options for travellers can be various. You can choose to take the train, for example.

It takes an hour to get from Bergamo to Milan by train. For those who want to travel eastward the most important station is Brescia. From here you can take trains leading to Verona, Padua and Venice.

There are many bus services that offer a regular service connecting passengers arriving to Bergamo airport to Milan. A service is operated by Gruppo Autostradale and leads to the Central Station of Milan. Occasional services also stop at Milan Lambrate station. Another company, Orioshuttle, connects the airport to Milano Centrale station. In both cases, the journey takes about 50 minutes. The shuttle bus leaves approximately every 30 minutes.

The Autostradale group also offers a service connecting the Orio al Serio Airport to Brescia. It leads to the railway station and the bus station. The journey takes about 1 hour.

Once you reached the Bergamo centre, is worth moving walking. In any case, the city offers an efficient bus network. From the railway station a bus will take you to the cable car station and then to the Upper City, every ten minutes. The cable car experience is one of the most exciting of Bergamo. The trip is short, but allows you to enjoy a truly stunning views.
